The Challenge
Since the adoption of the all PharmD program, pharmacy schools require clinically
advanced ambulatory preceptor sites. While many pharmacists are willing to
serve as preceptors, formalized clinically advanced services are not widespread
in ambulatory settings.
The Opportunity
MTMPath™, CSS’s web-based software designed to provide pharmacists
with an advanced tool for conducting medication therapy reviews, is now available
under the Preceptor Program to pharmacy schools. MTMPath allows clinicians
to collect and organize clinical data (progress, notes, labs, etc), assess
patients (functional status, cardiovascular risk, etc), make recommendations,
and print reports. MTMPath is web based and can be accessed anywhere there
is a broadband Internet connection.
The Preceptor Program
Under the Preceptor Program, preceptors are given an MTMPath license. Students
rotating through the pharmacy are able to create and maintain patient profiles
and submit assignments. Subsequent cohorts of students rotating through the
preceptor site provide continuity of care without redundancy. All patient
data and clinician activity is stored in secured databases.
Preceptor Program Benefits
The CSS Preceptor Program provides:
• Preceptor Sites with an advanced tool for therapy
review. As long as the pharmacy participates as a preceptor with your School,
they have access to the MTMPath software.
• Students with a clinically-advanced tool for conducting
clinical interventions.
• Faculty with an easy, on-line method of coordinating
students’ clinical intervention activity over multiple sites. CSS will
work with your school to incorporate your program’s activities into
the software.
In addition, MTMPath’s standardized way of collecting and organizing clinical information provide faculty with a wealth of de-identified clinical information for conducting research, submitting publications and obtaining grants.
